The FNB Credit Card is a product of First National Bank a division of FirstRand Bank Limited. FNB is an authorized financial services and credit provider.

At FNB they realize that different individuals have different lifestyle needs and this is why they offer various credit card options to choose from.

In this article, we will take a look at the different options available and the qualifying criteria for the FNB Credit Card. Also, we will discuss the benefits.

Let’s get started with the benefits.

    Benefits

The FNB Credit Card is designed to reward you for spending. You’ll earn eBucks on selected purchases.

You’ll benefit from Lost Card Protection. This means you’ll get protection from any transactions on your card after you have reported it as lost or stolen. However, please note that Lost Card Protection may not apply if it is determined that you were careless in protecting your card or PIN.

Another benefit is contactless payments. Contactless technology allows you to make fast and secure payments for low value purchases by simply tapping your card on a contactless enabled point-of-sale device.

Also, you’ll get access to Online Banking. Online banking provides you a convenient way to access your account. And this can be done from the comfort of your home or office.

Furthermore, you can benefit from Online Secure which protects your card against fraudulent use online. Online Secure uses a One Time PIN (OTP) that is sent to you and comes at no extra cost. To activate Online Secure on your card, you must be an Online Banking user.

Also, you’ll get a preferential interest rate on selected products when you buy on your FNB Credit Card at iStore, The Pro Shop, Cycle Lab and KOODOO.co.za

    FNB Credit Card Application

Application for a credit card can be done online, or by completing the call me back form on the FNB website, visiting a branch or on the FNB Banking App.

Which method should you use? It all comes down to personal preference.

However, online application and applying on the FNB Banking App give you the convenience of being able to apply at any time of the day and from anywhere.

Others might wish to talk to a consultant and ask questions as they apply. If you feel this way, then requesting a call back or visiting a branch might be the best option for you.

If you wish to apply at a branch and want to find your nearest FNB branch you can make use of the branch locator found on their website.

What documentation is required? You’ll need the following documents to apply

    • South African ID book (bar-coded)/valid South African passport (SA resident)
    • Passport with valid work/retirement permit (non-SA resident)
    • Proof of residence (in your name, and not older than 3 months)
    • Latest payslip or last three months’ bank statements

    FNB Credit Card Interest Rate

If you’re an FNB customer, you can get a personalised interest rate on your credit card that’s based on your credit profile and affordability.

Also, you get 55 days interest free. An interest free period on a credit card is the period in which you can purchase using your credit card without having to pay interest on those purchases.

To avoid paying any interest on purchases made with your credit card you must pay your full closing balance by the payment due date every month. Failure to clear the full balance on your credit card will mean you will lose the 55-interest free period for your next and current statement period.
