The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has allocated funds to political parties for the upcoming election, with the ANC receiving the largest share.
In preparation for the 2024 election, the IEC has distributed millions of Rands to parties represented in Parliament and provincial legislatures.
According to the report presented in Parliament, here’s a breakdown of the allocations:
- African National Congress (ANC): R148 million
- Democratic Alliance (DA): R62.7 million
- Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF): R40.9 million
- Inkatha Freedom Party: R14.6 million
- Freedom Front Plus (FF Plus): R19.5 million
- United Democratic Movement: R6.4 million
- National Freedom Party: R6.1 million
- Congress of the People (Cope): R4.4 million
- African Transformation Movement (ATM): R7.8 million
- Al-Jama-ah: R5.2 million
- African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP): R9.7 million
- African Independent Congress (AIC): R4.4 million
- Pan Africanist Congress (PAC): R4.1 million
The allocations reflect each party’s representation and influence. While some parties have seen increases, others have experienced declines, reflecting shifts in South Africa’s political landscape.
