Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has taken to social media to voice his confidence that the upcoming 2024 elections in South Africa will not be rigged.

He emphasized the importance of vigilance and strategic measures to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

In a series of tweets on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Malema urged caution against predetermined outcomes in the electoral process. He called for measures to prevent any potential rigging, including excluding members of the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) from being hired as staff of the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC).

Julius Malema emphasized the need for a robust electoral structure, highlighting the importance of well-trained party agents to oversee the process.

He stated, “We are marking SADTU office bearers…not to be hired as IEC staff,” and emphasized recruiting retired professionals as party agents to ensure impartiality and resilience against intimidation.

The Opposition’s Role and Unity

Malema stressed the importance of opposition parties working together to safeguard the integrity of the voting process. He echoed sentiments from the president of the ATM, emphasizing the need to protect each other’s votes and remain vigilant during the critical counting phase of the elections.

This call for vigilance comes in the wake of previous tensions between Julius Malema and SADTU, with Malema urging his party members not to allow SADTU members or other trade unions affiliated with the ANC to serve as election officials in the IEC.

Malema’s stance against potential compromises in the electoral process has remained steadfast, despite previous pushback from SADTU.

Malema’s assurance of fair elections is timely, as President Cyril Ramaphosa recently announced the date for the 2024 general elections, set for May 29.

With political tensions running high, Malema’s call for vigilance and proactive measures serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding democracy and ensuring transparency in the electoral process.

As South Africa prepares for the 2024 elections, Julius Malema’s assurance that the elections won’t be rigged offers a sense of reassurance to citizens. His call for vigilance and strategic measures to prevent potential compromises underscores the importance of safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

With unity and vigilance, South Africa can uphold democracy and ensure free and fair elections for all its citizens.
