Bafana Bafana will face Malawi in the COSAFA Cup Plate final after defeating Uganda 4-2 on penalties. This was after a 1-1 draw during normal time.
Malawi reached the COSAFA cup plate final after defeating Comoros 2-1 at the Princess Magogo stadium.
The Malawians got the breakthrough when Richard Mbule found the back of the net in the 29th minute to register his second goal of the campaign.
Comoros managed to level matters on the hour mark thanks to a strike from Nassim Ali.
A late strike from Chikoti Chirwa ensured there would be no penalty shoot-out and that the Flames are through to the Plate final. They will meet Bafana Bafana on Friday afternoon.
In the Bafana Bafana game, it was Uganda who took the lead early in the second stanza thanks to a goal from Serunkuma after a goalless first half.
Luther Singh, who scored in South Africa’s shock loss to Botswana on Saturday levelled matters in the 72nd minute.
With the teams deadlocked at 1-1 after full-time it was South Africa that advanced on penalties after goalkeeper Mondli Mpoto pulled off two saves.
Malawi dropped to the plate section after losing to Zambia, while Comoros were defeated by Zimbabwe over the weekend.
The final is scheduled to take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday at 17h00.
