The Kissing Booth 3, the third and final installment of The Kissing Booth film series has arrived on Netflix. The film was released on Netflix on August 11, 2021.
The Kissing Booth 3 is a 2021 American teen romantic comedy film, based on The Kissing Booth books by Beth Reekles.
Centred on the teen romance of Elle and Noah, played by Joey King and Jacob Elordi. The series has helped launch the stars’ acting careers. Also, it has garnered a huge fan base in the U.S, here in South Africa and overseas.
The Kissing Booth 3 Plot
Throughout the trilogy, Elle is constantly faced with choosing between the Flynn brothers and the last film isn’t any different.
The Kissing Booth 3 picks up right where we left off. After going on a road trip post-graduation, Elle still hasn’t made her mind up about whether to go to Berkeley or Harvard.
On one hand, she can go to UC Berkeley with her best friend Lee. Or she can head to Harvard to be with his brother (who’s also her boyfriend) Noah.
Noah asks Elle to move in with him if she chooses the East Coast. This seems a bold move given that they’ve not been able to go more than a few months without breaking up in their relationship.
When Noah and Lee’s parents announce they’re selling their beach house where they all spent their childhoods, Elle, Noah, Lee and Lee’s girlfriend Rachel (Meganne Young) offer to spend the summer there to help out with the sale.
Eventually, Elle chooses to go to Harvard with Noah which annoys Lee. Consequently, she promises to make it up to him by spending the summer doing their beach bucket list of various activities.
Noah’s friend Chloe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) – who Elle thought Noah was having an affair within the sequel – arrives at the beach house to make things more complicated.
They all come to a head when the group does a live-action Mario Kart. Noah and Marco clash, leading to Noah calling Elle “embarrassing” for not realizing Marco is still into her.
After Noah discovers Elle’s acceptance letter to Berkeley, he breaks up with her and encourages her to make a college decision for herself.
He’s worried that she’s only going to Harvard for him and he doesn’t want Elle to regret it if they later break up.
Do Elle and Noah End Up Together?
While Noah and Elle break up before she’s off to college, does it mean their relationship is over for good?
At the end of the film, there’s a six-year time jump at their old high school’s fundraiser.
Elle sees Noah for presumably the first time since that fateful summer where he reveals he has job offers at law firms in LA and New York. He hasn’t decided where he’s going but does suggest going on a motorcycle ride when he’s back in town, which we see play out in the final scene of the movie.
So, do they end up together? Given this is probably the last installment, fans can probably use their imaginations to figure that one out.
Where was It Filmed?
While technically the story is set in California and features sunny backdrops and beachside locations, it is not actually filmed in the U.S.
Instead, most of the scenes were shot in South Africa.
The beaches used include Camps Bay and Hout Bay in Cape Town.
