The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is a mid-engine hybrid-electric sports car produced by the Italian automotive manufacturer Lamborghini.
Unveiled on 14 August 2021, at the 2021 Monterey Car Week, the car is named after the original Countach which was first introduced 50 years prior.
Lamborghini said that it will be manufacturing only 112 units of the supercar to signify the project designation of LP112 of the original Countach.
However, if you are looking to buy 1 you are too late. Reports suggest that all the units of the supercar are already sold out. A report by Motor1 mentions that the luxury automaker has already sold 112 units of the all-new hybrid model.
The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 price hasn’t been made public. However, rumors suggest the price surpasses the $1-million mark while others put the cost at as much as $3.5 million.
Part of the name of the supercar (LPI 800-4), gives us much insight into the engine configuration.
The letters LPI means Longitudinale Posteriore Ibrido which translates to Longitudinal Posterior Hybrid. This means that Lamborghini mounted the 6.5-litre V12 engine which comes with a 48-volt electric motor, in a longitudinal layout.
The ‘-4’ at the very end refers to the fact that all the power that comes from the 7-speed automated manual transmission is sent to all four wheels instead of just two.
Styling
This model also has some features in common with Lamborghini’s Sian. Its hybrid powertrain is the same as the Sian FKP 37, however, its power is slightly less.
The scalloped roof and the hexagon taillights reflect Sian’s design.
Lamborghini has retained the scissor doors that open up, then forward, which were first introduced with Countach.
Nonetheless, the newcomer is not a mere copy of its predecessor. It is an evolution for the modern age.
Modern extras include the photochromic roof that changes from a solid colour to transparent at the touch of a button.
It complements the enormous modern wheels that showcase the brake discs, the colourful callipers, and the 3D printed interior air vents.
Interior
The low, geometric cabin of the Countach LPI 800-4 complements the lines of the exterior, expressing a new design that amplifies the sensation of being in a car from the future.
An exclusive range of single-color, two-color and carbon fiber trims preserve the elemental yet unconventional style of a timeless classic.
The car’s unique style speaks to you from every angle and combines beautifully with luxury Italian craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology.
