Nomzamo Mbatha has been announced as the host for the Miss South Africa 2020 beauty pageant.
It will be her fist time to host the pageant. She takes the reigns from media personality Bonang Matheba, who’s been the host for several years.
Who is Nomzamo Mbatha?
She is a South African actress, television personality, businesswoman and human rights activist. After serving as a LuQuLuQu High Profile Supporter for several years, Nomzamo was appointed as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in January 2019.
Since her appointment as a High-Profile Supporter for the LuQuLuQu campaign in 2017, she has visited four refugee camps with UNHCR in Malawi, Kenya, and South Sudan.
She is a household name not only in South Africa but on the continent as a whole. Nomzamo has a Bcom accounting degree from the university of Cape Town.
Nomzamo Mbatha moved to Los Angeles last year to expand her international career. She is set to star in the sequel Coming 2 America. This will be alongside Hollywood heavyweights Eddie Murphy, Leslie Jones and Wesley Snipes. The movie is scheduled to be in theatres on 18 December 2020.
How Does She Feel About Hosting Miss South Africa?
Mbatha said in a statement that she has always been a huge fan of the Miss South Africa pageant. It is a dream come true to host this year’s show.
“What the pageant has done in being a reflection of beauty, depth and power, not only for South African women but women all over the world, is something I truly admire.”
Her advice to the Top 10 Miss SA hopefuls is: “Set your intentions, let your light shine and know your superpower is being your truest self.”
Where Will Miss South Africa Take Place?
This year’s pageant will be held at the Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town on Saturday 24 October from 17:00. The finale will be screened live on M-Net and Mzansi Magic and will also be streamed live for an international audience.
Miss South Africa 2020 will take home a package of prizes and sponsorships worth in excess of R3m.
The finalists are Aphelele Mbiyo, Busisiwe Mmotla, Chantelle Pretorius, Jordan van der Vyver, Karishma Ramdev, Lebogang Mahlangu, Melissa Nayimuli, Natasha Joubert, Shudufhadzo Musida and Thato Mosehle.
