Shona Ferguson has passed away. He passed away on Friday, July 30 at the age of 47 due to Covid-19 complications.
South Africans were left in shock when news of the death of Shona Ferguson broke on Friday. However, there was confusion over the cause of his death. Some media reports were saying that his death was a result of complications from heart surgery. But these reports were immediately refuted by the family.
In fact, in a statement released by Ferguson Films, the company he co-owned with his wife Connie Ferguson corrected the false reports.
The statement read as follows:
“It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Mr. Shona Ferguson. He passed away at noon today (Friday, 30 July 2021).
Mr. Ferguson’s untimely passing was due to COVID-19 related complications and not a heart operation as reported in the media,” the statement read.
“We ask that you give the family time to process this painful loss and respect their space during this time. More details will be shared in due course,” the statement concluded.

Ferguson was born in Botswana as Aaron Arthur Ferguson and lived by wife actress Connie Ferguson and daughter Alicia Angel.
The actor and producer, Shona Ferguson started his acting career on the SA TV series Generations, where he acted as Ace. In addition to Generations, he also appeared in Isidingo: The Need, Scandal, The Queen and The Kings of Joburg among others.
Together with his wife they started Ferguson Films which has produced some popular television series. Some of them include iGazi, Rockville, The Throne and The Queen just to mention a few.
The South African entertainment industry has been robbed of a true icon. This also comes after SA recently lost legendary musician Tsola Thsepo. Ferguson will surely be missed.
